Pyrotechnics, clown

IGNIS presents a new aesthetic of fire, one that is no longer grandiose and spectacular, but minuscule and metaphorical. This solo performance explores the contrasts caused by flames. It draws on the poetics of archaism, nostalgia and ritual ceremonies to create an intimate bond with the audience.

Biography

Nicolas Fraiseau is a Franco-Italian artist specialising in Chinese pole. He graduated from CNAC in 2016. Since 2014, he has performed with various French companies. In 2018, he joined Compagnie Les Hommes Penchés to create his first solo show, Instable, in collaboration with Christophe Huysman, and received the “Aide à l’écriture cirque SACDBeaumarchais” grant. In 2021, he took part in the European exchange and research programme in circus arts, Circus Without Circus.

Nicolas is interested in clowning, practises slam poetry, and has developed a strong affinity for improvisation and risk-taking. He co-founded Collectif Sismique in 2020 and began working on his new solo, IGNIS, in 2022.
