EX5 - The car drives you

A car bursts out of the night. Two silhouettes running, are caught in its headlights, prey. At the wheel, Vega communes with this beast of metal: a battery, a multimeter, a makeshift antenna, a language somewhere between incantation and radio static binds her to the machine.

A road trip between lovers quickly turns into nostalgia, an unsettling misadventure, when one of them becomes possessed by the car, and the others escape. When the beast finds them again, the used metal and the rubber remembers them. She's been hungry from the start and she wants revenge.

Biography

La Barque Acide is a Toulouse-based circus collective, created in 2018 by graduates of the Lido school from Europe, South America and Oceania. The collective develops circus at the crossroads of different disciplines and mediums, notably live electronic music, film and physical theatre. Its pieces create fictional worlds which are surreal, unsettling and dreamlike.

Following its first production, The End is Nigh!, in 2021, the collective has gone on to develop several smaller-scale projects, including HYBRIS, Tira, Kiss the Beast Eat the King and EX5, co-written by Steph Mouat, Swantje Kawecki and Maristella Tesio. La Barque Acide is an associate company of La Grainerie from 2025 to the end of 2027.
