The Berlin Circus Festival started in 2015 and is an anchor point to establish contemporary circus art as an art form in Germany, where circus is frequently seen in cabarets and varietes. The 10 day festival presents high-quality international productions in various formats and organizes professional, practical and theoretical workshops, audience discussions and encounters, artist residencies, round tables and networking events, as well as platforms for up-and-coming artists. The festival site itself is created in the idea of a temporary artwork whose interdisciplinary approach appeals to a broad public.
