Subtopia

Subtopia is a creative cluster of companies and organisations dedicated to arts and creative industries. Located in the south of Stockholm, Subtopia brings together different venues from circus structures, schools to companies, working in the field of art, business, education and social engagement.

The Subtopia’s circus department supports creation, production, research and artistic development, offers residencies and workshops, and provides information and intelligence on circus. In 2010, they opened Hangaren, the first Swedish venue dedicated to presenting both Swedish and international contemporary circus.

In 2018, Subtopia initiated the festival CirkusMania, in the Stockholm’s region. The aim is to create broad interest and curiosity for contemporary circus in new as well as established audiences. They gather now 30 of the Stockholm region’s stages across 14 municipalities.
