Subtopia is a creative hub bringing together businesses and organisations working in the arts and creative industries. Located in the south of Stockholm, it encompasses various spaces, including circus facilities, schools, and enterprises engaged in the arts, commerce, education, and social initiatives.

Subtopia’s circus department supports artistic creation, production, research, and development. It offers residencies, workshops, and resources on circus arts. In 2010, they opened Hangaren, Sweden’s first venue dedicated to showcasing both Swedish and international contemporary circus.

In 2018, Subtopia launched CirkusMania, a festival in the Stockholm region aimed at sparking curiosity and interest in contemporary circus among both new and established audiences. Today, the festival spans almost 30 venues in 14 municipalities in the Stockholm region.
