La Norma
SCANDALE

THE PROJECT / SCANDALE proposes a dramaturgy of bodies, based on the presupposition that nothing is inherently scandalous; it is the reception and the audience’s reaction that turns an act into a scandal. This creation unravels the very concept of normality, treating what shocks us as an opportunity to engage with difference with curiosity rather than fear. On stage, it brings to light the misunderstandings that exist in life — those we rarely have time to analyse or digest — creating that time within the performance.
La Norma reaffirms and protects the importance of conviviality among human beings. They seek to explore scandal as a way of believing in a shared heritage and a place of encounter. In a time of rising extremism, hatred, and abuse of power, scandal is treated as a catalyst for movement — an invitation to examine our collective loss of bearings.
BIO / Co-pilots of the project, Martina Monnicchi, Karine Saroh and Sofia Zambrano met in 2019 at Ésacto’Lido. They share an interest in the political potential of art, a passion for artistic experimentation, and a desire to renew forms of writing for the stage.
Martina and Sofia, the authors of this piece, were the only aerial artists in their graduating class — they always worked side by side. Radically different in temperament — Sofia, explosive and surprising; Martina, calm and discreet — they are bound by a constant dialogue of questioning, attraction, and complementarity.
Yann Champelovier, Nathalie Maufroy, and Victor Marre-Cast joined the creative team, drawn by the wish to work within a heterogeneous group (in backgrounds, disciplines, ages…) that reflects their shared utopias and values.
