Corvus Obscura
Petra Najman · Ivan Svaguša
THE PROJECT / Corvus Obscura is a contemporary circus research exploring the space in between, spatial planes and perspective. It weaves together physical movement, trapeze, spatial-sequential live drawing, mat manipulation, Butoh, and experimental music.
The research is rooted in the idea of metaphysical harmony and the path that precedes it. It investigates the relationship between darkness and light, height and ground, disharmony and harmony, the micro and the macro, the visible and the inner world.
The intention is to distil the stage into a minimal and clear performance space, and to bring it to life through the spatial projection of drawings, achromatically rendered in real time onto dark surfaces, offering a new perspective on what is seen, through imagined phantasmagoric scenes.
BIO / Temple O.A. is made up of two creators: Petra Najman & Ivan Svaguša. Petra is a performing and trapeze artist trained in France and Italy, working in contemporary circus, physical theatre, and Butoh. She is the author of the play My Death and Me.
Ivan is an interdisciplinary artist and educator, primarily an academic painter, whose practice spans painting, illustration, street art, comics, animation, music, and performance. His work merges visual, sound, and performing arts into a unified whole.
Together, they created the interdisciplinary play Crow Without a Nest, which includes a picture book and exhibition, set to premiere in 2025. From this work, the new project Corvus Obscura has emerged, and is currently in development. They experiment with direction, choreography, dramaturgy, visual design, and sound.
