Throughout the selection process, circusnext Platform members are present alongside the artists, by hosting them in residency, organising performances and meetings with audiences during presentations of works-in-progress, workshops, etc. They showcase artists from other European countries, thus contributing to the internationalisation of their professional careers.
They raise awareness among political decision-makers and the general public by promoting a high-quality contemporary circus that is representative of the diversity of circus creations.
They take an active part in the life of circusnext Platform through collective meetings, reflection on the programme, and by communicating about the circusnext project and its label.
circusnext Platform members take part in all steps of the selection process:
- 1st stage – National pre-selections: They organise and participate in the national pre-selection committees in their respective territories, with the aim of identifying artists-authors with unique and original writings.
- 2nd stage – European selection of Finalists: They examine all the pre-selected projects, discuss them and decide on the selection of the 12 Finalist projects of the year.
- 3rd stage – Selection of Laureates: Three members are elected by all circusnext Platform members to join the jury for the selection of the Laureates. The other members do not take part in the decision-making process but do take part in the Selection of Laureates days: they attend the presentations of work in progress on stage and meet and discuss with the artists and other invited European professionals.
